Jai Pal Singh, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer
Jai Pal Singh, Ph.D., joined SJTRI as chief scientific officer in May 2009. Dr. Singh has more than 22 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, most recently at Eli Lilly and Company, where he served as head of cardiovascular research and research advisor on cardio-metabolic diseases. He brings a deep expertise for drug discovery and development in the areas of cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease and complications of diabetes with a major focus on vascular biology and regenerative medicine. Dr. Singh has led multiple, large cross-functional projects involving medical, regulatory, legal, and project management teams. While at Lilly, he also initiated and led the cardiac and peripheral ischemia program. He is widely published with more than 55 publications and 18 U.S. patents and speaks at national and international scientific conferences. Dr. Singh is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he received a master’s degree in science with highest honors and a post-doctorate degree in biochemistry. He completed his research fellowship at Harvard University Medical School, Boston. In addition to his scientific leadership, Dr. Singh was an active community leader while living in Indianapolis, serving as the president and chairman of the India Association of Indianapolis, member of the board of directors of the American Red Cross and member of other civic organizations.
